 Joy Harper Ash, an American Fashion & Interior Product Designer, has worked in some aspect of the fashion industry all of her life.  Her career in fashion began at the ripe old age of 9 months...  modeling for local & major corporate clothing brands in Chicago, IL (even landing a food commercial for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese).    

 

After watching her mother (famed celebrity fashion designer Maria Harper) sew all of her life;  Joy began working under her apprenticeship at the age of 12 after moving to Atlanta, GA.  This made her 3rd generation in her family's craft.   She learned how to design, cut patterns, sew, embellish garments, & more!

She still laughs at the fact that her mother trusted a 12-year-old with client orders (sometimes working very expensive fabrics...  some of which would not have been replaceable).  But thankfully she never ruined an order!

Joy continued to model for private brands & even made guest appearances as a teen for Bronner Bros. BB Babies (a kids modeling troop for the famous Atlanta hair show).

Fashion has always been her world, though it is in college that she also discovered a love for Marketing.  A graduate of the School of Arts & Sciences at Clayton State University, she received a certificate in Marketing & Merchandising (Fashion), then later received a degree in Marketing.  After college she took a position as a Marketing Director for a sports company, and later worked as a Corporate Recruiter until she decided to get back to her first love full time.  

Joy took on a position in her mother's boutique fashion design company, Maria Harper Designs LLC (aka MHD), overseeing several dimensions of the business; Fashion Design, Marketing, Sourcing, Research, Web Design, eCommerce, PR, & Fashion Show/Photo Shoot Directing.  The skills she has obtained in her 20+ years of industry experience has truly prepared her as a (3rd generation) entrepreneur.

She has had the pleasure of designing for countless celebrity clients under the MHD brand. Though she still (very lovingly) collaborates with the company, her focus has shifted towards creating her own brands in fashion design/ illustration, retail & writing. Her design aesthetic is glamorous high fashion, many with a subtle element of surprise.  She naturally adores a cut-out and believes that fashion should be a new take, but also classic enough to transcend seasons.

Joy works and resides in the Atlanta, GA area with her husband Tim and their 2 beautiful children TJ & Olivia (who are now 4th generation training in the business of fashion).  She attributes all of her success to her faith in God and is excited about where her gifts will take her next!
